Interactive online lessons, a live quiz game for class, and an interactive bulletin board - built by an educator who got tired of paying for tools that should be free.
The Platform
Each tool is independent - use one, two, or all three.
Build interactive online lessons with quizzes, branching scenarios, and dialog simulations. Exports to D2L, Canvas, and Moodle - quiz scores post straight to your gradebook.
Open KQ Lessons →A live quiz game for your classroom and Zoom - like Kahoot, but free and with no student accounts. Teachers control the pace; students compete in real time on their phones. Great for warm-ups, reviews, and exam prep.
Open KQ Live →An interactive bulletin board for your projector or Zoom screen. Build a board of widgets - timers, polls, name pickers, dice, and more - and pull it up at the start of class.
Open KQ Board →Add slides, quizzes, videos, and dialog simulations using the drag-and-drop editor.
See exactly what your students will see -test quizzes, check branching paths, listen to audio.
Click "Export SCORM" and upload the ZIP to D2L, Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard.
Quiz scores and completion data flow directly into your gradebook -no manual entry.
KQ Lessons - What you can build
Design lessons that keep students engaged - without a steep learning curve.
Multiple choice, true/false, and matching questions. Scores post directly to your gradebook via SCORM.
Let students make decisions and follow different paths - great for case studies, patient simulations, and ethical dilemmas.
Embed YouTube, Vimeo, or Kaltura videos, record voiceovers, and search Creative Commons image libraries.
Build conversation-style interactions with characters -perfect for soft skills, patient scenarios, and language practice.
Exports as a SCORM 1.2 package that uploads directly to D2L Brightspace, Canvas, Moodle, and Blackboard.
Image-text layouts, flip cards, timelines, callout boxes, code blocks, scroll panels, and more.
Works in any browser with no install or account. Lessons export as standard SCORM 1.2. Your files are yours, saved locally, with no cloud account or vendor dependency.
Optional AI Tools
KQ Lessons includes optional AI tools for drafting lesson outlines, writing slide content, and generating quiz questions from a topic or pasted text. They're completely off by default. nothing is ever sent to any AI service unless you choose to use them.
AI features use your own OpenAI API key, stored only in your browser and billed directly to your own account. Every feature in the editor works fully without it.
How does it compare?

When professional instructional design software costs $1,599 a year, it creates a two-tier system: well-funded institutions get immersive, interactive content, and everyone else gets a PDF. That gap falls hardest on the students who need the most support. Knowledge Quest Studio exists to close it.
It is built around approaches that meet diverse learners where they are: Universal Design for Learning (UDL), flipped classroom models, scaffolded content, and accessibility-first design, so that every instructor, at every institution, can deliver pedagogically sound lessons regardless of budget.

Everything teachers ask before getting started.
Creator of Knowledge Quest Studio
I know my students because I've been my students. First-generation. Low-income. Figuring out higher education without a roadmap. That background is why I care so much about who gets access to quality online learning, and who doesn't.
The students I teach are parents squeezing in coursework during nap time, adult learners caring for a sibling or an aging parent, immigrants and refugees building a new life through education, and students juggling work and family with very little margin for error. As a former ELL Information Technology instructor with AmeriCorps, language access and clear content aren't nice-to-haves for me; they're the whole point.
I built Knowledge Quest Studio because the tools that make online learning genuinely engaging, interactive, accessible, and designed around how people actually learn, were locked behind price tags that most educators and institutions simply can't afford. That's not acceptable. So I built one and made it free.
In real life, I'm a software engineer. I spent years at Oracle before becoming a technical college instructor. I brought that engineering background to every design decision in this tool: it has to be fast, reliable, and genuinely easy for a non-technical instructor to use on a Monday morning.

Privacy
Knowledge Quest Studio does not collect, store, or share any personal information about teachers or students.
We do not use cookies, pixel trackers, or analytics software. We do not track who uses this tool or how.
Quiz scores and completion data travel directly from the student's browser to your LMS via SCORM. They never pass through our servers.
Because no student data is collected or transmitted to us, there is nothing that can be shared, sold, or exposed. Your institution retains full control.
This page loads fonts from Google Fonts and checks GitHub for the latest app version. Both are read-only with no personal information attached.
When you search for images or music inside the editor, your search terms are sent to the
service you search (Pixabay, Openverse, Wikimedia Commons, or Jamendo). These are standard
search requests - no personal information is included. You choose whether to search; nothing
is sent automatically.
